Congressional hopeful Dr. Neal Dunn stopped in Wednesday to speak to the Panhandle Federated Republican Women’s group during their monthly meeting.

During his talk at the Olive Garden on State 77, the Panama City surgeon, who is running for Florida’s Congressional 2nd District seat, brought up the three main areas on which he would focus while in office: the economy, the military and health care, adding that if Congress does not work to correct the issues, future generations will live in a world with fewer opportunities.

Billing himself as a conservative who supports the gradual repealing of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Dunn said the law could be turned over if Republicans can craft a replacement plan. He said the ACA is neither affordable, good for patients or sustainable, and the new plan must be market-driven and focus on patients, rather than bureaucracy. Citing his experience running several medical centers, Dunn said he easily could help Congress with the task.

“I am by far the most qualified candidate to design a replacement for Obamacare,” he said.

Anna McLane, the Panhandle Federated Republican Women’s co-president, said their members are politically active and want to stay current on the issues, particularly in a presidential election year.
